Release Day Spotlight: The Heart Of A Peach by Jess B. Moore

The Heart of a Peach by Jess B. Moore

Olivia Hamilton can do no wrong. Or at least that’s what the community of Fox River, North Carolina thinks of the odd but sweet young lady. She’s hiding a past she’d rather forget, engaged to the town’s most eligible bachelor, and longing for someone to see past the mask she wears. Olivia wants to find herself, forgive herself, and fall in love with someone who sees and embraces her flaws.

Denver MacKenna grew up the fiddle-playing prodigy of not only his hometown of Fox River but of North Carolina and the surrounding states. He plays obsessively and tours as often as possible, escaping a life of loneliness at home. Until he meets a beautiful siren who calls to him and has him making plans to settle down. Denver knows it’s wrong to covet the elusive Olivia, but finds himself inexplicably drawn to the brief glimpses she gives him of her true self.

Jess B. Moore is a writer of love stories. When she's not writing, she's busy mothering her accomplished and headstrong children, reading obscene numbers of books, and knitting scarves she'll likely never finish.

Jess lives in small town North Carolina with her bluegrass obsessed family. She takes too many pictures of her cats, thinking the Internet loves them as much as she does. She is a firm believer of swapping stories over coffee or wine, and that there should always be dark chocolate involved.

The Fox River Romance novels combine her interests in family, music, and small towns into thoughtful tales of growing up and falling in love. These books can be read as stand-alone, or as a series starting with The Guilt of a Sparrow.

New Book Release Spotlight & Author Guest Post: The Chapel by Jess B. Moore

The Chapel by Jess B. Moore

My husband recently asked me if book release day had become “old hat” at this point. My fifth book came out on Valentine’s Day, and in many ways, it was just another day. I’m still in awe with every book I write and put out into the world, but in some ways he wasn’t wrong.

When I wrote my first book (The Guilt of a Sparrow), I still hadn’t told people I was writing. I joined NaNoWriMo, and worked diligently, but I was secretive and more than a little terrified. Writing was something I did for me, and I didn’t quite dare to think my work could be published. I met a couple people online, on the NaNoWriMo forums, and began discussing writing with them. It was through them I gained the bravery to share my work for the first time. We swapped what we’d written, and all the sudden I was a writer.

From there, I got the courage to share with a couple in-real-life friends. I did multiple rewrites until I felt I couldn’t do any more with the book. Then I started submitting to agents and publishers. Rejections were par for the course, and oddly not all the disappointing, because I never expected to be published. I found my book home with an indie publisher, who helped me along, encouraged me to keep writing, and taught me how to take the reins.

Now, everyone knows I’m a writer, and I’m always working on at least two or three projects at once. My last book (The Chapel) was sent to beta readers early on, and I was happy to get the much needed feedback. I have an editor I trust and love working with. I collaborate with an artist for my book covers. I know how to format my books for ebook and print.

A couple years ago, creating a website and managing social media seemed difficult. There was a learning curve to being an author where the marketing and promotion were concerned. Back then I would never have considered self-publishing. Too daunting. Too scary. Too many what-ifs. Now I put my own books out with pride in my work. I learned by doing, from asking questions, and by befriending other authors.

One of the biggest changes from book one to book five is me.

Did you know there was a time I was embarrassed by reading romance? Yeah, that was before I started writing it! I loved the books, and my ereader reflected this, but I never wanted to admit it to anyone. Then I realized everything I wrote turned into a love story, and I had to embrace the fact I LOVE romance. Reading it. Writing it. Now, supporting and promoting it. We’re a strong group of (mostly) women, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of!

I went from someone hiding the fact I even tried my hand at writing, to someone active in the writing community. I learned to brave the critics and put my work out there, because it’s worth it when someone finds a connection to my stories. I started out wondering if I could ever finish another book, to planning dozens more!

Mallory Johansen has nearly given up on thinking she’ll get her act together – the one where she plays the part of an adult – by the time she hits thirty. As it is she’s desperate and depressed. Her only friend is leaving town, she’s paired to work with a man who can’t stand her, and she finds herself homeless. Definitely hasn’t mastered being a grown-up yet.

Otis Bell wants nothing more than to play his guitar, book acoustic bands to perform at his upcoming music venue, and be in charge of his own life. Instead, he’s working full time in his family’s auto shop. He only owns half the supposed music venue, which stands as an abandoned church and needs more than a little work. When his best friend moves away, he’s paired with an aloof girl he’s never liked as partner, and stretches himself thin working too many hours.

The Chapel is the little music venue that could. Full of potential. Full of ugly carpet, peeling paint, and exhausting work. Mallie and Otis navigate their way through a fledgling partnership, trying their darnedest to get the place up and running, while trying pretty hard not to fall in love in the process.

The Worth of a Penny by Jess B. Moore

Sweetheart Penelope Davies is what her daddy calls gullible, right after he told her she was stupid and worthless. With her cheek red from being slapped by him, and her heart trampled by a worthless boyfriend, she packs up and follows her half-brother to Fox River, North Carolina, in need of a fresh start.

Dominic MacKenna is the youngest of five brothers, the friendly one with a killer smile and easy laugh. His brothers are all grown up, and one by one they’re flying the nest, leaving him out of sorts and unsure of his place. Who is he if not the youngest MacKenna?

Penny falls in with the MacKenna brothers, welcomed in as family, and offered the kind of love and support she never knew existed. With a new job and a lot of determination, she is finding out what she’s capable of. The last thing she needs now is to fall in love with the most notorious flirt in town.

Dominic falls for the sweet strong girl with a penchant for random facts and quirky homemade dresses. All he wants is to show Penny how wonderful she is, how smart and funny, and how desired and loved—even if he has to do it as her friend.

New Release Spotlight and Excerpt: Fierce Grace by Jess B. Moore

Fierce Grace by Jess B. Moore

Annabelle Dare is in a good place. She landed a sweet job, teaching at the quaint Fox River Elementary School. She has everything she needs: teaching music and sharing an apartment with her best friend. A simple life, she’s convinced, is all she needs.
Asher Grace knows who he is and what he has to offer. Nothing. A poor boy from the wrong side of town, steel worker, with too much weight on his shoulders as he is trying to hold his family together. Best choice is avoiding too-sweet-for-her-own-good Annabelle at all costs.
Annabelle falls in love with the way she comes to life with Asher. He awakens a hunger for life and love in her that she didn’t know she possessed.
Asher must learn his worth beyond his upbringing and his past. Annabelle must learn to stoke the fire of life as it burns within her and learn how close she can get before the flames lick her.

Annabelle is the first person to tell you she’s perfectly happy alone. She has her best friend, her wonderful job, and her rocking burnt orange retro sofa – this is all she needs! Ah, but it never works out that way, does it? Annabelle has crushed on Asher for a while, but he never seemed to notice her. Then Asher pursues Annabelle, and she has to admit that maybe she’s been missing out … this scene takes place after A & A have fallen asleep together on the sofa while watching a movie.

You can’t get burned if you keep your distance from the flames.

Enter Asher Grace.

He stirred in me sensations I didn’t know I could possess. Just lying there with him, I came to life. More in tune with myself and my desires. They might have been latent up until then, but I was overjoyed they existed. Flames licked inside me, building with each touch shared with Asher. I had been afraid all this time of other people, but the fire came from within. When I got hurt at the end of this, it would be my own fault.

After Asher woke up and we went back to being upright, Kendra exited with suspiciously good timing, and offered to bring Asher back home.

Come on, lover boy. I’m your ride home.”

“Thanks, Kendra.” Asher half smiled, but looked back at me, reluctant to go.

“I’ll wait outside.” Kendra scoured the area for her keys and ID. “I’ll be back later,
Annabelle.”

“Okay, Doll Face.” I watched my best friend walk out the door, giving us a chance
to say goodbye.

“Have a good week, sweetheart.” Asher framed my face with his hands, and
looked me in the eye.

“You too.” I sighed, so sure of him, based on practically nothing, and knowing full
well I was being swept away by my emotions.

He pulled me in and up, until his lips found mine. In that kiss he claimed me. Not
holding back, he left me with a kiss I could never forget.

Asher’s arms wrapped me up tight in a lingering hug. I gripped him and loved his
strong arms around me. He left with a reminder for me to lock my door. I would never get over him, a certainty that rocketed through my system. It was already too late for me, and I couldn’t go back to living on the sidelines of life and love after exposure to Asher Grace.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this sneak peek into Fierce Grace, and it leaves you wanting more!!

Fierce Grace is available through Amazon, in digital and paperback: mybook.to/fiercegrace

With mirth & moxie,
Jess B. Moore
