Release Day: Till There Was You by Wade & Lilliana Anderson

TILL THERE WAS YOU

by

Wade & Lilliana Anderson

Haunted by his past, Lincoln Ryan abandoned his life in Australia, retreating halfway around the world to the town of Newsham, a place as remote and cold as his heart had become. It suited him perfectly—for a while.

When a fateful event forces him to help out local bar owner, Lily Colbert, Linc finds his life of solitude is suddenly flooded with the light and hope of one very stubborn woman. Slowly his walls begin to crumble as he lets the enigmatic Lily in. But when Linc and Lily dance perilously close to the ‘L’ word, his secrets re-emerge, rocking him to the core as he tries once again to outrun his past.

However, the thing about the past is that it always seems to follow you around, and for Linc, hiding may not be an option anymore. Not when he has Lily. Not when he might finally have a future….

Till There Was You is the debut novel by Wade Anderson, co-written with his wife, Lilliana Anderson (author of Drawn and 47 Things).

“I’m so sorry,” she murmured against his neck as her arms squeezed him tight. Swept away with his outpouring of emotion, she felt his loss as deeply as she’d felt her own many years ago. It was horrible for her to lose her parents, and the idea of losing a spouse put an ache in her chest that caused her eyes to burn with sorrow.

His chest shook. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered again, this time pressing her lips against the pulse point on his neck. She wanted to take his sorrow away. She wanted to ease it somehow. Her lips kissed his neck again, moving to his adam’s apple, where she felt him gulp and still.
Pulling her away from him, his dark eyes looked down on her, swirling with storm clouds of emotion as his brow knitted tightly together.

“I’m sorry,” she said again, although this time, she was apologizing for being so bold. She was simply doing what felt right in the moment, but now she thought she’d made a terrible mistake.
Lifting his hands from her arms, he cupped either side of her face, his eyes seeming to take in every detail before he wiped away the tears that streaked down her cheeks.
Her breath shuddered at his touch, catching in her chest as he lowered his mouth to hers. He hesitated for split second then took her mouth in his in a kiss that was anything but gentle. It was ferocious—full of need, hunger, and desperate emotion.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, Lily rose on her toes and met his voracity with a need of her own. She’d be lying to herself if she said she hadn’t been imagining this moment since the first time she saw him, and the reality of it did not disappoint. Every time his tongue slid demandingly against hers, a bolt of lust traveled to her core.

Moaning as she melted against him, Lily lost herself to the need of his mouth and heat of his touch as his hands moved down her body and gripped her ass, pulling her against him. Feeling his hardness pressing to her stomach, she reached between them and began undoing the buttons of his shirt.
The husky decided it was the perfect moment to start howling.
Gripping her arm at the wrist, Linc tore his mouth from hers, his wide eyes still filled with confusion, but also mixed with pure lust. “You should go,” he rasped out, releasing her hand and stepping back as he pulled his shirt closed. Lily caught a glimpse of what looked like scaring as he hurried to fasten his buttons with shaking hands.

“Linc,” she started, wanting to tell him it was okay. They could wait to do anything more until he was ready, but he didn’t give her the chance.

“Just go,” he demanded, his eyes flashing as he raised his voice.

Release Day: A Beautiful Taste by Lilliana Anderson

The Beautiful Series are standalone romances, each with their own HEA. They can be read in order or on their own.

New Adult romance, for 18+ only due to sexual content and adult themes

It's never easy to go back. That's something chef, Bradley Rae is sweating bullets about as the date of his kayaking team’s reunion draws near. When his old school friend and teammate, Elliot Roberts, convinces him to go, he thinks he'll be fine going back there. After all, chances are, she won't be there at all. It’s been almost ten years. Maybe she she’s moved away. Maybe he won’t see her at all...

Dakota Morgan is a girl with many regrets, and Bradley Rae is on top of that list. You see, she did something - she didn't wait five minutes, and that tiny amount of impatience changed the course of her life forever.

When her father sets up a fundraising reunion for their family owned kayaking club, her heart beats out of control when she sees Brad's name on that list. Part of her wants to refuse to go so she doesn't have to face him. But a larger part of her needs to see him, even if it's just a window into what might have been...

When Brad and Dakota meet again, will sparks fly, or will the past remain firmly in the past? And what about secrets? Can they survive the reality of what that one split decision, made all those years ago, has done? Or will they let it all go again?

Dakota Morgan is both head-strong and naïve as a thirteen year old girl. She has a crush on Brad Rae, an older boy who's enrolled in the Summer kayaking programme run by her parents. She knows he's interested in her too, but left feeling humiliated when he confronts her for being three years younger than himself. Over time, her love for Brad only get stronger and just when they reach a point they can finally act on their mutual attraction, everything they hoped and dreamed for is destroyed.

Thanks to his Aunt Sara, Brad's future prospects don't look quite as hopeless as they could have been. He may have dropped out of school, but he's working in a restaurant to train as a chef. He works during the evenings, so spends his days hanging out with other kids on the Summer programme he's attending. Brad can't believe that the girl that has caught his eye is three years younger than himself. Even worse when he's asked by her father to keep an eye on her so other hormonal teenagers in the group don't hit on her. He wants to move on, but the feelings for Dakota just wont go away, so he settles with a friendship. Just when there relationship is moving forward, and incident beyond his control changes everything.

This is such a heartwarming story and was immediately drawn to the protagonists and into the plot where we hope that love conquers all. You will root for Brad and Dakota to find a way back to each other and, will them to overcome both the physical and mental pain stemming from that fateful night seven years ago. Whilst it is easy to understand the anguish and resulting consequences Dakota has faced and is now living with. We are reminded that Brad also has to come to terms with what happened in order to move on. The author has done a wonderful job of dealing with a sensitive incident in a compassionate way, translated via the actions of the main characters. Dakota is living each day the best she can, but is suffocated by her overprotective parents. Brad is protective, caring and compassionate way beyond his young age. He's willing to do whatever it takes to finally be with the woman he loves.

I'm familiar with and like the author's writing style but unfamiliar with The Beautiful Series. I read “A Beautiful Taste” as standalone novel, but plan to catch-up with the rest of the series as soon as I can.

Dakota

Cody?” I turn to the sound of a male voice, and when I turn, it takes me a moment to recognise him.
Elliot?” I confirm, as I take in his cropped hair, his broad shoulders, and his massive height. I’m smiling because while I know it’s him – he still has those iridescent blue eyes - but, I can hardly believe it at the same time. He’s about twice the size I remember him, although it’s all muscle. He looks amazing.
He smiles and gives me a friendly hug. “It’s been a long time. This is my wife, Paige.”
The obviously pregnant woman at his side gives me a beautiful smile and holds her hand out to shake mine. She’s a little taller than I am at five foot, eight, and she has beautiful brown curly hair and interesting amber coloured eyes which gives her an otherworldly quality. They’re a stunning couple and I feel as though I’m staring, but I can’t stop.
It’s lovely to meet you. Elliot’s been telling me all about his time here. Sounds like you all had a lot of fun,” Paige says when she withdraws her hand from mine.
We did,” I confirm then have a brief conversation with them to catch up on the last seven years of Elliot’s life. “Sounds like you’ve been really busy. Have you kept in contact with anyone else from your squad?” I try to slip the question in there naturally.
He smiles knowingly. “I still talk to Brad. He should be here soon. He just had a few things to do at work before he could come.”
Oh, I didn’t mean…” He pats me on the shoulder.
He wants to see you too.”
The blush creeps up my cheeks before I can stop it.
Elliot!” Paige reprimands. “You’ve gone and embarrassed the girl.”
I shake my head. “It’s fine, really. And he’s right. I am asking about Brad. I don’t know how much you know, but it’s been a long time and things didn’t exactly end well. I’ve been worried he might still be angry and wouldn’t want to speak to me.”
It was a long time ago,” Elliot says, kindly. Then another male voice speaks up from behind me.
It feels like yesterday being back here though.”
I freeze at the sound of his voice and stay that way as he greets Elliot and Paige before turning to me. He smiles. I can’t breathe. He still looks the same but the lip and brow rings are both gone. There’s a small scar in his right eyebrow where the ring was torn out.
That scar is my fault I think, as my eyes graze over it, noticing all of the tattoos covering his forearms. One side is new. He didn’t have both sides done before. The realisation of missing out on so much of his life hits me in the chest and twists like a knife. I wish things were different, I really do…
Dakota,” he says, and my name rolls off his lips like a fine piece of music. I long for him to call me Cody like he did back then.
It’s so good to see you. How have you been?” I ask breathlessly. My heart beats in my ears, and I feel incredibly warm and a little shaky.
He drops his gaze to the floor for a moment and slides his hands into his pockets. “I don’t want to do small talk with you, Dakota.”
I’m a little taken aback. “You don’t?”
He shakes his head. “No. Will you walk with me?”
I have to force myself to swallow as a fear grips my heart. If I tell him now, he’ll go away forever. I just got him back. I want to keep him for a moment…just a moment. Then I’ll let him go.
But…but there’s dinner… and… and…”
He holds out his hand. “I don’t want to wait any longer than I already have.”
Apprehensively, I slide my hand in his, knowing that mine will feel warm and clammy to him. How is he acting so calm?
As his hand closes around mine, I close my eyes, taking a brief moment to acknowledge that it feels like home. It feels right. It feels the same.
He escorts me out to the balcony then down the stairs that lead to the pontoon. He releases my hand at the bottom and slips his hands back in his pockets again. Before I was feeling warm–now I’m suddenly cold.
I guess you brought me out here for some sort of an explanation,” I state, as we walk along in silence for a few moments.
Well, it is the great mystery of my life. It’s supposed to be the guy who ditches and runs, not the girl.”
It’s his attempt at a joke, but neither one of us laughs. I think we’re both caught in the same memory. The last time we were together before he asked me to wait for him and I didn’t…

Are you OK?” he asked, lying beside me, as he held a warm compress between my thighs.
I nodded and lightly ran my hand down the side of his face, my finger touching the ring in his brow and ending at the ring in his lip. He was so beautiful. He was everything I had wanted or even hoped for. He turned slightly and kissed my fingertips.
I’m perfect,” I whispered.
He smiled, leaning down to lightly kiss my lips. “Yes. You are.”
I love you,” I told him.
I love you,” he whispered in return, taking my mouth in his…

I don’t know what to tell you,” I say, trying to blink away the tears that sting my eyes when I remember what we lost.
How about you just tell me what happened?”
I take a deep breath, thinking back to that day, and wanting to tell him–even if I just tell him that I didn’t leave him. I was forced away…
I look at him, my mouth opens to speak but all I manage is “I…I…”
You what?” he presses, and I clamp my mouth shut before shaking my head.
Cody,” Stacey interrupts, holding out my phone. “It's Riley. He's saying he needs you to go home.” I wince because Brad doesn't know about Riley. She glances over at Brad. “Oh, uh…hi, Brad, I didn't know you were here.”
He looks from me to her, and there's a ticking in the side of his jaw. “Actually, I was just
leaving.”

“Holy shit, Aiden,” Chloe gasps as she flicks the lounge room light on and finds me sitting on her couch. “You shouldn’t have come here.”

Slowly, my eyes travel over her body, taking in every part of her that I’ve loved with such intensity, that I still have the urge to go to her and reclaim her as mine. But I stay where I am–the wound in my chest seems to ache at the sight of her. It’s as if it’s reminding me of who she is and what she’s capable of.

Staying silent, I watch her place her handbag and keys on the side table as she reaches down to take off her heels and pushes them against the wall with her stockinged feet.

“Can I get you a drink before you head off?” she asks, as if me breaking into her house and waiting for her in a darkened room is something that happens between us every day.

As if seeing the man who wants an explanation as to why she double-crossed him is something that happens every day.

Studying her as she heads to the kitchen and takes two beers out of the refrigerator, I have to wonder if she’s some sort of sociopath. She shows little emotion at the sight of me, which is shit, because I’m feeling a whole range of emotions at the sight of her…

She stands in front of me and holds a beer out, and I set my jaw, looking up at her but refusing to take it. Pressing her lips together, she withdraws the bottle and leans to the side to place it on the chrome and glass lamp table beside me.

“You’re angry with me,” she states, taking a seat across from me as she crosses her legs and smooths out the length of her skirt.

“More than angry, Chloe. There isn’t even a word for how I’m feeling toward you.”

She nods and places her bottle on the table next to her, keeping her eyes on mine. Watching me. Gauging what I’m about to do. Why is she so damn calm? She should be scared as fuck at the sight of me after what she did.

“Is my life in danger?”

“That depends.”

“On what?”

“On what your answers are.”

“Ok.”

“You shot me in the chest.”

“I did.”

“I know how good a shot you are.”

She nods, waiting for me to continue, although I’m sure she knows exactly what my question is.

“Why didn’t you kill me?”

Be careful whom you trust…

It’s something I thought I knew but with Chloe Donovan, all of my reasons seems to fly out the window the moment I’m around her.

Blinded by lust, persuaded by love. I hedged my bets on our forever. Twice. And both times, I lost. She’s gone. And once again, she’s ruined my life.

Stuck helping a federal agent by the name of Drake Jefferson, I’m biding my time until I can find where she is.

I won’t be giving up my partner in crime to the authorities. I’ll be dealing out my own brand of justice, and when I’m done, I don’t care if I rot in prison for it.

Chloe Donovan had better start sleeping with one eye open. Because I’m coming for her.

She played me.

I let her in, and she played me. If she sees me. She’d better run.

I won’t be trusting her a third time.

When Jonathan decided to help Lisa, he was trying to atone in some way for his past sins. He certainly wasn't expecting to be pulled into a night full of hiding out from the press with a journalist called Sandra Haegen, and almost being choked to death by a rockstar in love with his ex.

When Sandra decided to help Lisa by feeding Perry, she was just trying to be a good person. She also wasn't expecting to spend the night hiding from the press. Even more so, she wasn't expecting to spend the night with one of Australia's hottest young actors, Jonathan Masters. She also wasn't expecting to save his life.

And that's just the beginning.

From there, these two must find a way live with the past and look to the future - no matter what the personal cost.

**Exclusive**
The next morning, I head into work to find yet another gift waiting for me on my desk. It’s a small white box with a blue ribbon tied around it, and the sight of it makes me stop in my doorway and immediately pull out my phone.
“This needs to stop,” I say to myself with an annoyed shake of my head as I pull up Jonathan’s number and dial. He picks up within two rings.

“Good morning, Red,” he chirps.

“Stop sending me things,” I demand immediately.

“You’ve got the wrong guy this time. Whatever you have, it wasn’t me. Maybe it was from that pretty boy you were kissing in the papers the other day.”

“He’s not a pretty boy. You’re a pretty boy.”

“That’s very sweet of you to say,” he jokes.

“Well, I’m a sweetheart, what can I say. Listen, sorry to attack you, I should have checked the card first.”

“You can call me anytime, for anything. I won’t hold it against you.”

“Ok,” I laugh. “I’m hanging up now.”

“Alright, you do that. But, Red, when am I going to see you again?”

“I haven’t decided on that yet.”

“You’re hurting me. I just want to be your friend and you’re putting up road blocks.”

“I’m totally not buying this friend act.”

“You should, because it can’t be more unless you want it to be. Besides, we have fun. We get along. You want fun, right?”

“You’re trying too hard, Jonathan. I’m going now.”

I can hear the smile in his voice. “Bye, Red.”

Hitting the end call button, I walk over to my desk and pull the blue ribbon on the box to get to the card.

For your tastebuds.

Call me.

Brad

Smiling, I open the box and find a red velvet cupcake inside. When I bite into it–and yes, I eat it immediately–it’s the softest, most flavour-filled baked treat I have ever had the pleasure of eating–and I’ve eaten a lot, so I know what I’m talking about.

“You are very popular lately,” Erin, our receptionist comments on her way past my office. “You’re getting more deliveries than anyone else here. And the guy who dropped that off was H-O-T. Oh my lord, you are one lucky woman.”

“He was here?” I ask, pointing at the box as I talk through a mouthful of cake.

“I think so. Dark hair, brown eyes, tatts all over his arms? He was wearing a white bonds shirt, a pair of jeans, and some Vans. He didn’t seem like a courier to me.”

“That’s him alright. How long ago?”

“Maybe an hour? I told him you don’t get in until nine.”

I swallow the last of the cake and lick the crumbs off my fingers and my lips, apologising that there was only one in the box as I do. Then I thank Erin for dropping by and when she leaves, turn to my phone again, this time ringing the correct person for a thank you.
