Jamie Rae's Message to Readers
As a military spouse and Air Force veteran, I wanted my debut to not only be about something that I knew and loved but to also be a story that delivered a powerful message. Your reviews and feedback have meant the world to me and I can’t thank you enough for taking a chance on my feisty, female fighter pilot. Your words have made me laugh, smile, ugly cry, happy dance, fist bump, and cheer. Most importantly they have given me the encouragement to keep writing. I love and adore each of you! In the words of Tink, “Holy hell, you rock!”

Review Blurbs:
"Mark my words, 'Tink' is going to be in the hall of fame-badass character edition" -Ana (Owl Always Be Reading)"This book had it all for me. It had heartache, romance, forbidden love and action! I had every single feel throughout the book" -Debi (Mean Girls Luv Books)

This is an Infinite Star Book!! One the Best Debut Novels of All-Time & Best Books of the Year! Call Sign Karma is without a doubt one the best debut novels I have ever read in my life! The Synopsis leads you to a good and even great book. However, this novel is the very definition of a masterpiece. -Mia's Point Of View

I put the key in the ignition and started the Jeep when the door opened. My pulse quickened and I locked eyes with my monumental mistake.
I shifted the Jeep into gear and reversed. I did not want to see him and I definitely didn’t want to be alone with him. He held a motorcycle helmet in his hand and started toward me.
“Lieutenant,” he yelled.
I put the Jeep into drive as he continued rushing toward me.
“Wait!”
Not a chance in hell. Accelerating way too fast, I peeled out of the parking lot without looking back. Adrenaline pumped through my veins. I turned the corner a lot faster than I should have and a security forces policeman flashed his patrol lights as a warning.
I slowed and drove the twenty-five mile an hour speed limit. The way my blood pumped, I could have gotten out and ran faster than I drove. I heard the motorbike’s buzz before I saw it. Locke was behind me. I wanted to slam on my brakes and see how far I could launch him into the air. He’d need his own jet to get down.
Once I got off the military base, I threw it in fifth. The motorbike had no problem keeping up with me. I pulled into my driveway, cut the engine, jumped over the door, and stormed to my walkway. He was off his bike and at my side before I made it to the porch.
“Wait!”
I ignored him and trotted up the first few stairs to the porch. His footsteps followed.
“We need to talk.”
My key sank into the lock.
“Tinklee,” he said with a thickened accent.
I swung around, resisting the urge to push his ass off my property.
“So you do realize I have an actual name.”
“What did you want me to do?” he asked with a deep-set crease between his brows. He was visibly upset. “You shocked the bloody hell out of me. Why didn’t you tell me you were a JSF student?”
“I don’t know, why didn’t you tell me you were a JSF instructor?” I questioned and threw my hands in the air.
“You didn’t tell me your name, which by the way, might have been good to know. I read the student roster. That would have saved us both from this mistake.”
I jerked my head like his words slapped me across the face. It was too late. It was out there. I knew it was a mistake, but saying it out loud cut deep.
I turned back toward the door.
“That was a daft thing to say,” he said in a gentle, caring voice. “I didn’t mean it like that. Listen, last night was incredible.”
“Just go,” I replied. I turned the key and I tried to swallow the lump wedged in my throat.
He grabbed my hand and sparked that fire that made me want to forget who he was and what it meant. My perfect stranger was back with all his tenderness. I wanted to kiss him, hold him, and not have any of the rules matter. But I knew it was impossible. He knew it, too.

Tinklee Pinkerton! Not normally a name you'd associate with a trained fighter pilot, but with a Mom who likes to sprinkle her world with her own brand of pixie dust, it is very normal indeed. “Tink” was born to follow in the footsteps of her father and brother and always knew from an early age she wanted to fly . Now at the age of twenty-two, “Tink” is about to embark on the next chapter of her career and learn to fly a JSF – the same jet fighter than she believed was responsible for her brothers death.
Tink” is a feisty, hot-headed and independent young woman trying to forge a career in a mans' world. She's nobody's fool but underneath her tough exterior, she's has insecurities and doubts like everyone else. Her main nagging doubt is about the beloved JSF and she wants to prove that despite her father's belief, her adored big brother wasn't killed due to his own error but because of an electrical fault in the cock-pit.

Locke, What was there not too like about him? - nothing! I just love how the author nailed his British accent making his background authentic and believable. Locke wasn't expecting an “act first, ask questions later” first impression from the beautiful blonde woman on the beach near his home. Neither did he expect their chemistry to read off the scale either. After a night of passion, he leaves to begin a new work placement, unbeknown that the nameless woman that rocked his world only hours earlier would be one of his new students.

I loved how the two protagonists complemented one another. Tinklee is impulsive, a loose cannon and sometimes her own worse enemy, whereas Locke is a cool, steadfast guy - the voice of reason. Humour is in bountiful supply courtesy of the banter between the guys in the squadron. And lets not forget both sets of parents' who provided every reason possible for their off-spring to rebel against them. All of this wrapped up in a military setting which the author has gone to great detail to create an authentic backdrop to the drama. Call Sign Karma is the fabulous début novel from Jamie Rae, and I'm look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Blog Stop & Review: Untrue Colors by Veronica Forand

Untrue Colors

She’s on the run…

Brilliant art appraiser Alex Northrop’s ex used stolen art to fund his nefarious activities. Now he wants her dead. But it isn’t just herself she’s worried about – if he discovers who she really is, he’ll kill her family.

Professor Henry Chilton is shocked to find a beautiful stranger passed out in his bed, and even more so when she reveals a priceless painting is a forgery – the painting he’d planned to use to fund a woman’s shelter. She’s mysterious and frightened, and he is determined to discover why.

Alex's knowledge of art is undeniable—just as Henry’s attraction to her is irresistible. But in order to help him recover the real painting, Alex isn't just risking exposure...she's risking her life.

Lies, deception, intrigue, lust, espionage & suspense...Untrue Colors has it all in abundance in this fast paced romantic suspense.

Alex Northrop has the ability to change her personality and appearance as easily as a chameleon changes colour. Being a polyglot adds unique credibility to each persona. As her “use by date” is due to permanently expire with her current boyfriend Luc Perrault, Alex needs to use these skills to escape Paris and save her own life. She manages to escape to England and ends up in the bed of a man who will change her life forever.

Henry Chilton, ex-Royal Navy and Professor of Anthropology at Oxford University aka Earl of Ripon! He may be a geek, but he's multifaceted too, but chooses to keep some sides well hidden. When a beautiful young woman ends up in his bed he is instantly drawn to her. It's when this enigmatic woman tells him his most valuable art piece is a fake, he's compelled to ask her to help him find his original family heirloom.

The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable as is their interaction with the supporting characters. The most significant ones being Simon (who needs his own book, please!) and Luc. The layering of the characters' personalities means you never quite know what to expect from them next, so their actions are far from predictable. Alex is a heroine who you'll respect because she's strong, practical, loyal with a generous dose of rebelliousness. Henry is an academic action man who's loyal, compassionate and caring.

The plot is well crafted, keeping us the readers on our toes the whole time. The geographical changes in the plot landscape adds addition interest without feeling overwhelmed with details. All this is wrapped up in a fascinating and intelligently written story based in the underground world of stolen art.

Untrue Colors is one of the best Romantic Suspense books I have read. As a “Yorkshire Lass,” - thank-you Veronica Forand for setting part of this wonderful story in Ripon, which left me feeling homesick in a positive way.

Alex grieved as she looked toward the Louvre for possibly the last time. She had no choice but to leave Paris and the sublime treasures forming its artistic soul. Overhearing Luc’s plan to celebrate their four-month anniversary by murdering her set off her own plan of running as far away from him as possible.
What began as a fairytale romance had morphed into a traumatic descent into hell. Luc had no problem stealing fine art and artifacts and using Alex’s expertise in appraisals to dupe art collectors and even small countries of their valuable assets. She had huge problems with those things.
While his main henchman, Pascal, drove them through Paris, Luc held her hand in the back of the Mercedes like they were still lovers. They appeared perfect for each other, a rich art collector and the young art appraiser who had fallen head over heels for him. Rugged good looks combined with an enormous amount of wealth made him an ideal catch for a woman who didn’t mind being beaten into submission. Alex minded.
Dressed in a thousand dollar suit and wearing a sophisticated five o’clock shadow across his chiseled features, Luc seemed headed out for a night at the theater, not on the way to eliminate his girlfriend. Alex leaned away from him. She needed to get away. His free hand caressed her arm, rubbed her shoulder, and pulled her back toward him. Moving slowly, seductively, he wrapped his fingers around her neck and started to squeeze. He stared at her, his eyes neither narrowing nor widening, only observing her reaction.
“I promise I won’t tell anyone. I swear it.” She pleaded for her life, speaking French, the only language they’d ever spoken to each other. As his hand tightened with her words, she gasped and struggled for breath.
Luc pulled her face closer to his. His lips pinched together, causing the muscles in his neck to tense. “Liar.”
The more she struggled to pull away, the more his grip tightened. No longer able to inhale, her eyes watered and her life began to fade. With nothing left to lose, she struck out at his face. He released her, but slapped her ear so hard, her head flew into the door. The pain ricocheted through her skull, leaving her numb for a moment.
She glanced out the window and saw salvation. As Pascal slowed for a turn, she opened the door and jumped. Her Chanel suit acted as her only protection when she hit the ground and bounced onto the road. Asphalt scraped her skin with each rotation until she slammed into the curb. Pain rebelled in ribs not yet healed from her fall down Luc’s marble stairway. Car brakes screeched nearby. In seconds, they would be on her. She hobbled to her feet, sucking in huge breaths.
Alex merged into the manic crowd entering the Gare du Nord at rush hour. She dodged men and women in suits, groups of school children, and what felt like hundreds of tourists. With her passports tucked in a travel belt under her skirt and several hundred euros in her possession, she boarded the high-speed train for London and prayed he wouldn’t follow her.

A Bostonian by birth, Veronica Forand regrettably lost her Boston accent while moving from state to state and country to country. Cleveland probably had the most profound effect on her ability to pronounce the “r” in the word “park.”
She does try to return now and then to visit family and eat long neck clams and lobster. Summers on Cape Cod are also high on the priority list.
Her experience in crime involves time as a court appointed attorney. Eventually, she switched fields to where bigger crimes take place, corporate tax. The allure of spending mornings in her pajamas homeschooling her children and writing fascinating fiction caused her to change careers again. Now that the kids are out of the house (in school), she writes romantic thrillers by day and is the perfect wife and mother at night.
Her experience in romance is limited to one man. Luckily, he’s still finding ways to charm her by taking her on vacations to the south of France, Fiji, and the Green Mountains when time is short. Avid travelers, they love to roam with their kids across continents in pursuit of skiing, scuba diving, and the perfect piece of chocolate.
She’s lived in London, Paris, Geneva, Washington D.C., and the accent destroying city of Cleveland. She currently resides near Philadelphia.
