Losing my brother was my breaking point.
After years of disappointment and pain, never again was I letting someone penetrate my heart.
As long as I could still play my drums, I would tolerate the bullshit that came with being a member of the band Borrowed Faith.
What I didn’t see coming was a redheaded angel, her name true to her looks.
Apple was the epitome of forbidden fruit, too special for someone like me.
Her rock legend father made it crystal clear.
More importantly, so did my head.
My heart should’ve listened.
The angel should’ve, too.
I knew the demons in me would destroy her.

New Release Spotlight: An Unconventional Affair, Book 2, A Risk Worth Sharing by Mollie Blake

An Unconventional Affair Book 2, A Risk Worth Sharing by Mollie Blake

This second part of An Unconventional Affair finds Barrington Stone working in Australia for a year. Tranquility “Tee” Hammond, fifteen years his senior, has ended their affair, but for Barrington it was never over. He can’t wait for the year to pass to go back to her. However, after a drunken encounter, with a woman he later discovers is a sex worker, his life is changed forever. How can he possibly leave Australia, now that he has a daughter?

After accepting that Barrington won’t be coming back to the UK, Tee rekindles her relationship with the charming-yet-unconventional Sebastian Chandler, owner of a motorsports racetrack. Although living with Sebastian is “complicated” and life for the couple isn’t perfect, they are settled and Tee is happy.

But everything changes when Barrington returns. Tee’s heart is in turmoil, and Sebastian is afraid he will lose the woman he loves. As the plot thickens and twists unravel, Barrington must decide if there is one risk worth sharing.

Release Day Review: 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne

99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Highly anticipated, I dived right into this latest novel by Sally Thorne.

Darcy Barrett is a fighter. . . for attention. As the younger twin, she's lived in the shadow of her alpha brother Jamie, a fact amplified by her health issue. Growing up the two fought until their parents 'adopted' a neighbour's son, who became the peace-keeper between the squabbling siblings. During this time, her brother dominated the attention of Tom Valenska, but now Darcy wants him for herself.

Tom Valenska will always be grateful to the Barrett family for helping him and his mum when he grew up. Now, he's been asked to renovate the house his childhood friends inherited. It's the first job he's undertaking after setting up his own company and Darcy will be there too, but for how long?

First off, I really, really liked Tom. He's tall, good looking with a compassionate and caring nature. Very different from his childhood friend Jamie, who dominated his attention. However, his friendship with Darcy meant as much to him too…yet it's something which has gone unsaid.

Darcy wasn't a heroine I instantly warmed to as her personality and actions made her come across as aggressive and reckless. So, it's satisfying to get to know her once she tones down her bravado, there's a young woman who wants what many others want . . . a happy ever after with the 'one'.

I like how Ms Thorne wrote this romance because of the reversal in dominance. Despite Darcy been the weaker twin, she has a very alpha attitude and presence for a woman, which contrasts with Tom's beta male personality.

With fast and furious banter, the pace of the narrative speeds along and the pages turning, creating an entertaining novel which lives up to my expectations.

Spotlight: At The End Of The Summer by June Moonbridge

At the End of the Summer by June Moonbridge

Joshua’s life as a rock guitarist seems like a dream come true. Sold out concerts, red carpet events and wild nights portray him as a confident young man with the world at his feet. Only few friends know the scars he carries.
When freelance photographer Caroline meets the rock band Burning Ruins at the after party, an irresistible chemistry of attraction between her and the sexy rock guitarist is clearly seen to everybody. However, after a forced conversation from Joshua’s side, Caroline's convinced the attraction is not mutual.
Waking up the next morning, Caroline has no idea what happened. She flees out of the hotel room mortified, convinced she’d become another of the band’s trophies. Determined never to meet anyone from Burning Ruins ever again, she has no clue people around her have different ideas.
In a summer that takes them from London to Wales and to the sultry heat of Rome, they’re desperately fighting their demons from the past, while trying to protect their broken hearts. Will they ever let each other mend their broken hearts or will they try to heal them alone?

June was born in June and she always loved the moon. Born and raised in Slovenia, she studied economics, and quickly realised she hated it.

However, later she found herself working in mainly male-dominated businesses. She can choose the best steel for your project, but don't, please don't, ask her which lipstick brand you should use.

Although her writing was constantly criticised by her teacher that didn't stop her. Under different pen names, she had stories published in magazines, and then went on to publish three books under pen name Eri Krt.

After having two children, and learning that her second child has autism, she married their father and carried on working. Work and family life left her with little free time. But the desire to write didn't die.

Always looking for something new, she challenged herself to write a novel in English and all her three novels:

And

are a result of that continuous challenge …
