New Release Spotlight: Driven To Temptation by Melia Alexander

Driven to Temptation
A Driven to Love Story
By: Melia Alexander
Released June 13, 2016
Entangled Lovestruck

Aidan Ross might be an engineering genius, but people skills? Not this soldier’s forte. Thankfully, a trusted friend is accompanying him to a make-or-break tradeshow…but then a bubbly redhead hops into his truck, claiming to be his new road trip buddy. She’s a gorgeous distraction he can’t afford. Or ignore.
Delaney Harper comes from a family of engineers—male engineers. With several impressive projects under her belt, she’s on a mission to prove she can hang with the big boys, too. But cracking the sexy, closed-off CEO is tougher than she expects…and hotter than she could have imagined.
With the tempting woman disrupting his carefully planned schedule, Aidan can’t focus on the road, much less their upcoming presentation. The future of his company is riding on this trip, and if they’re to land a huge account, he has to keep his head—and his heart—in the game…

Link to Follow Tour: HERE
Delaney’s eyes opened as she scrambled to her feet, her heartbeat pounding in her ears. Getting caught eavesdropping on her boss’s private moment would be an awful idea. She could kiss any hope of a promotion good- bye if that happened.
She headed back across the room and barely got her butt in the chair before the bathroom door opened. She grabbed her laptop, willed herself to stay calm as she jabbed at the keyboard.
God, she’d done nothing but work the past few months, trying to make a good, strong impression on Harold, hoping he’d give her a chance to run her own project. On top of that, she’d worked nights and weekends to hone the presentation—
Aidan stalked out of the bathroom in much the same way he’d stalked in, only this time all he had on were his jeans.
With the buttons undone.
The soft mat of hair trailed down to Happy Land. But it was apparent that underneath his unbuttoned jeans, Aidan was commando.
Delaney’s mouth dried. She should tear her gaze away, plant it rmly on the computer screen, turn her mind from the erotic path it’d taken to the more sane one.
Damn it.
She knew what she had to do, yet she couldn’t. Look. Away.
Thank God he seemed too preoccupied with grabbing his duffel bag off the bed and heading back to the bathroom. Once the door shut, she slumped against the chair, the softly padded fabric against her thin tank top the only thing grounding her in place. She heaved in a deep, steadying breath and fanned herself with one hand. He was way too sexy for his own good...or hers.

Melia Alexander is the author of sassy, sexy, fun contemporary romances, but is also fortunate to spend her week days at The Male Observation Lab (a.k.a. her job at a construction company) where she gets to observe guys in their natural habitat. Though they often behave like typical alpha males, in many instances she's seen through their personas to the heart of who they really are - the heroes of their own stories. A native of Guam, Melia traded in warm, tropical breezes for the rainy Pacific Northwest. She's an avid reader who also loves romantic comedies - preferably with a glass of CabSauv and a box of chocolates nearby. In her free time, she's busy conquering her CrossFit fears: ring dips, muscle snatches, and the dreaded 800 meter run. Her family appreciates her attempts at cooking and cleaning, although she spends it mostly daydreaming about her characters, which sometimes results in a burnt meal and a half-cleaned house.

I'm a fan of reading romance novels written by men and after reading A Lover's Lament, BT's collaboration with K. L. Grayson I was more than interested on reading his first solo project.

Xander Evans is constantly moving. Having spent the latter part of his childhood in foster care, he's on a journey to find his sister who he hasn't seen since she was two years old. He's a drifter, only spending a short amount of time in each place he stops. He finds himself in Truman Valley, Missouri where he meets Paige Watson. He's offered work at her family's winery with accommodation. It's an opportunity he grabs knowing he'll only be there for a few months. Only his life is about to get a whole lot more complicated.

Paige Watson has a charmed life, mostly. She had a fabulous education, great career whilst surrounded by a close-knit loving family. She escaped an abusive relationship, but her ex is a constant black cloud on her horizon. He's the one thing stopping her from finding love, until a new stranger rolls into town…

The prologue instantly drags you in, but then the pace of the subsequent third of the book is slow as we are introduced to the characters and the setting. From there the pace picks up and gains momentum as the story heads towards the pinnacle, with clues to the identity of the perpetrator woven in. I always like it when I'm kept guessing right until the end and feel rewarded when I correctly identify the right person.

"You calm me. You make me feel carefree."
The relationship between Xander and Paige is slow-burning and fits perfectly within the mood of the story.

The writing is great yet I didn't identify with the protagonists, in a way I'm sure my American readers friends will. The cultural difference too great for me to really understand their psyche. However, the plot was much more manageable and refreshingly original, littered with raw and gritty dialogue. I'm not a fan of HEA's wrapped in a bow so a high point for me was the epilogue. I like to finish books feeling my brain has been fully engaged and this thought provoking ending did that 100%.

Overall a commendable read revealing lots of potential for the author.

"How about twenty questions?" I ask.

"I hate twenty questions."

"How about five questions, then?"

He cracks a smile and lifts an eyebrow. "How about three?"

"Deal!"

"So, have I mentioned how much I fucking hate Tuesdays?" Brandi's voice cuts right between us. Xander looks relieved.

Me? Not so much. "Damn it, Brandi!"

"What?"

"Oh nothing. Can you grab me Fireball though? Pretty please. Two of them." I look at Xander. "You're taking one."

"Three. I am too, bitch! Fuck Tuesdays!" Brandi calls out from across the bar as she begins filling the shot glasses from the Fireball chiller.

"Question one. You said you’ve been traveling for a while now, right? Do you ever get tired of it? Ever feel like settling?”

"Damn. Starting out with the heavy hitters, huh?" He eyes the shot glasses as if hoping it will somehow make them fill faster.

"Need me to go easier on you? Maybe a finger or two first before I go in with the whole fist?"

He looks at me in disbelief. "Did you really just say that?"

"Just answer the question, two fingers or three?"
