New Release Spotlight: Legacy of Light by C.D. Tavenor

Legacy of Light by C.D. Tavenor

If only they knew us as more than accursed.
The Holy Empire hates the People of Light. Maripes, arriving in its capital, seeks to save his people from certain destruction. The Inquisition seeks theocratic justice, and it will stop at nothing to rid the world of those it considers evil.
Still, Maripes must try. For if he fails, doom will certainly befall his people. Standing in his way? The High Inquisitor, the Empress, and a million subjects all indoctrinated to believe he is evil incarnate.
Should be an easy task.
Otherwise, his son Mono, a soldier in the legions of their people, will face the fight of his life . . .

New Release Spotlight: The Bus Ride by Joanie Chevalier

The Bus Ride: A Zany Busnapping Adventure by Joanie Chevalier

The Bus Ride: A Zany Busnapping Adventure is a character-led novella. “I feel if an author creates rich characters, the story will propel itself.” – Joanie Chevalier, Author.
The character range is by far the most impressive feature of the story, and time is dedicated to each of the individuals on the bus to give their little vignette of life and see how their issues are resolved, exacerbated (or indeed both) by the events of the busnapping.” 5-Star Review by K.C. Finn, Readers’ Favorite
Devon, the busnapper, decides to give each passenger a nickname: “We won’t be using our real names here. I want each of you to come up here and I’ll choose a nickname for yaCuz if I have to call on you, I don’t want to say ‘Hey, you.’ That’s not personal, and kinda rude. I like one-on-one personal stuff.”
Here, I’d like to introduce you to FakeBusDriver aka Devon. Devon has only one thing on his mind: he must get to his momma’s trailer park to get his one-fifth share of her ashes before the deadline. You see, his family thinks he’s a loser and he must prove them wrong. But then something horrible happens. Devon’s car is stolen. How to get where he needs to go when his car is stolen? Solution: hop on Bus Route No. 255 and take over the driving! Before long, the passengers are rooting for Devon and even help him with his quest.
Excerpt:
About time you got here, kid,” said Johnny. “Momma died eight days ago.”
Devon shrugged and stuck his hands in his jeans pockets. “I–I’ve been tryin’…”
He was completing his online test for his CPA license,” said MuffinTopMomma, a twinge of pride in her voice, her white lie sounding convincing.
What’s a CPA?” whispered Fred to Henry. They both shrugged.
You’re still wasting your time, Devon? Don’t be stupid. None of us ever made it out, why are you any different?” Fred spit out some tobacco and giggled, a habit of his when he was nervous.
Hey, mister, speak for yourself!” said ToughGirl as she stepped forward. Her fingers gripped the skateboard in her right hand. “Anybody can excel in life if they try.”
SpyMan stepped forward. He pulled his jacket back, revealing a gun holster.
We don’t want trouble now. Just give Devon what’s his and we’ll be on our way.”
Listen here, mister, whoever you are, this is family business.”
Devon is our family now,” LonelyBoy said as he flipped his head.

“…bus hijacker Devon is easy to root for despite his desperation and lack of judgment.” 5-Star Review by Lit Amri, Readers’ Favorite

When Devon discovers his car stolen, he must find transportation to get to his destination before the deadline to get what’s rightfully his: the urn containing one-fifth of his deceased momma. He hops on Bus No. 255 and changes the course of the route. As the passengers’ personalities and needs emerge, they go from being strangers to a bonded family within hours as they fight for each other, and themselves… in more ways than one. Funny and sentimental, this story will grab your heart as you cheer everyone on Bus Route No. 255, maybe even the busnapper.

Meet the passengers on Bus No. 255, an unlikely group of people who have no choice but to try to get along and survive when their bus gets busnapped. Meet Devon, who has a deadline he must meet, or risk losing what’s his; Doug, a dreamer of a better life, but first must face a sad truth; Frankie, a life full of loneliness, but unexpectedly becomes a hero; Gloria, a woman who finds validation in the most unexpected place; Autumn, a girl who desires a family, and a sense of belonging; Dave, a man seeking justice and equality, learns to love himself as he is; and the Garcia family, whose family ties brings them to the brink of danger. Follow these passengers as they each fulfill their destinies, together.
