You see, his family thinks he’s a loser and he must prove them wrong. But then something horrible happens. Devon’s car is stolen. How to get where he needs to go when his car is stolen? Solution: hop on Bus Route No. 255 and take over the driving! Before long, the passengers are rooting for Devon and even help him with his quest.

“About time you got here, kid,” said Johnny. “Momma died eight days ago.” 

Devon shrugged and stuck his hands in his jeans pockets. “I–I’ve been tryin’…” 

“He was completing his online test for his CPA license,” said MuffinTopMomma, a twinge of pride in her voice, her white lie sounding convincing. 

“What’s a CPA?” whispered Fred to Henry. They both shrugged. 

“You’re still wasting your time, Devon? Don’t be stupid. None of us ever made it out, why are you any different?” Fred spit out some tobacco and giggled, a habit of his when he was nervous. 

“Hey, mister, speak for yourself!” said ToughGirl as she stepped forward. Her fingers gripped the skateboard in her right hand. “Anybody can excel in life if they try.” 

SpyMan stepped forward. He pulled his jacket back, revealing a gun holster. 

“We don’t want trouble now. Just give Devon what’s his and we’ll be on our way.” 

“Listen here, mister, whoever you are, this is family business.” 

“Devon is our family now,” LonelyBoy said as he flipped his head.
