Shock wasn't a big enough word to describe how Lily felt, looking up to find Marc staring at her in that ballroom. Anyone else. It literally could have been anyone else – her father, Mickey Mouse, Hitler, and she would've been less surprised. Marcelle De Sant wasn't real, anymore. He was a figment of her imagination, something that usually only appeared late at night, when she was alone and missing a more dangerous time in her life.

Besides, wasn't he supposed to be in Brazil!? Wasn't he ... anywhere she wasn't?

Wasn't he not quite this good looking!? It's unfair that such a dick can be so good looking.

Dancing with her was bad enough. They'd fought, as had always been in their nature, but it wasn't the same. She hated him. He'd lied to her, and he'd manipulated her, and he'd abandoned her. Told her she wasn't good enough, then told her to go home. She loathed him.

And yet, his arm was around her, and his eyes were so blue, and she'd missed him so much.

Rat bastard.

And of course, along with fighting, their other old friend made an appearance – bad luck. Next thing Lily had known, she was being dragged upstairs and shoved into a bedroom. There was arguing. There was kissing.

So really, it was just like old times.

The bedroom door swung open, but she barely registered it. Marc's hands were moving over her body, pressing down on her breasts. He moved one lower, sliding it over her hip and around to her ass, pulling her away from the wall and into himself. She ran her hands down his chest and worked them under his jacket, smoothing around to his back. She bit into his bottom lip and that earned her yet another groan, followed by his tongue filling her mouth.

Acting a part, acting a part. Not enjoying this at all. Nope, nooooope.

People were in the room. Someone was barking questions in Spanish. Marc ignored them, and the hand on her ass suddenly moved and grabbed her thigh, yanking her leg up to his hip. She made a big show of pulling his belt apart, all while his mouth moved down her neck, leaving sloppy wet kisses in its wake. His hands were back at her chest and buttons flew as he yanked open her blouse. One hand went down the top of her tank, and suddenly Lily didn't care that they had an audience. Marc was touching her again, that was all that mattered.

Excuse me!” a voice barked out. “You cannot be in here. You go now.”

Marc's free hand began rooting around in his pocket, and he pulled out a handful of pesos. He held them out to the nearest guard.

“We go in twenty minutes,” he panted, shoving the money into an open hand.

“Twenty minutes? Jesus, that's disappointing,” she gave a husky laugh, then moaned when the hand on her breast squeezed.

“Alright. Twenty minutes. We come back, and you leave room,” they were warned.

But neither of them could answer, as their mouths met again and their tongues moved against each other.

Her mind had registered the length of time since he'd left her, but her body didn't notice it at all. It recognized his touch as if they'd been together just the day before; like no time had passed. It made it all even worse. Her brain had done a good job of pretending it was over him. But her body had longed for him for six months. Had missed him. Hadn't understood why he'd left.

That thought brought her to her senses, and Lily abruptly shoved him away. They were both breathing hard. Marc's pants were undone and Lily's blouse was hanging open. Her matte red lipstick was smeared across his mouth and chin. She took a deep breath and smoothed her hands over her hips.

“Okay, we need to figure this out, right now,” she told him.

“Alright,” he agreed, though he seemed a little dazed. She resisted the urge to smirk.

“I didn't come here for you. Nothing I've done in the last six months has been for you,” she lied. “You're not a part of this. You were never a part of this, except for a couple weeks in Africa. I will not let you ruin this for me again, De Sant. When we walk out of this room, you're going to leave the house, and I'm going to finish this job.”

Marc's daze wore off and he glared as he put his pants back to rights.

“I've been a part of this since the moment you opened that safe, and you know it. What do you think I've been doing this whole time? Fucking vacationing? I'm not exactly getting paid for this shit.”

“No one asked you to do any of this shit. You just took it upon yourself. You just ran away and decided to solve a problem that wasn't even any of your business.”

He flinched and Lily smiled.

“I thought you'd understand,” he grumbled, glancing in a mirror that was behind her. He yanked off his bow tie and used it to wipe at lipstick around his mouth.

“Then you thought wrong.”

I was excited to continue Lily and Marc's story in this second book of The Mercenaries series. After reading Out Of Plans, the emphasis is more a Lily “coming of age.”-To finishing what she began five years ago...closure and revenge for her sister's death.

Without distraction, Lily and Marcelle have different ways of coping during their separation. Lily is focused and determined to train and improve her skills, if only to prove to herself she's capable of doing whatever she puts her mind to. She tracks down Bentley in Thailand, who agrees to help her. After taking their first joint job in NYC, they work well together as a partnership across the US, honing Lily's skills whilst building her reputation as they go. Eventually they part ways as she flies to Bogota, Colombia, to complete her mission...to put a bullet between Stankovski's eyes.
Marc's focus is distracted as he follows a lead to find his target...the Russian Bratva leader...Anatoly Stankovski. His journey takes him to Moscow and then the Ukraine. There he encounters Roksana Stankovski, who lets slips the intel he needs to find her husband, sending him onwards to Colombia. He's determined to keep his promise to Lily, to justify the toughest decision he'd made for both of them. To keep Lily, his redhead with the stunning green eyes safe.

When reunited, the sexual chemistry is as explosive as the anger Lily directs towards Marc. Forgiveness isn't a word in her vocabulary and oh boy! she holds a grudge. Lily has changed too, something Marc isn't too pleased about...gone are her smooth edges and curves which training has changed to a sharp, bad-ass attitude and toned muscle. They eventually call a truce, but jealously takes over when the full extent of Bentley's role in Lily's life is uncovered. Marc can see they formed a special, unbreakable bond of trust, attraction and respect. Only it takes time to full comprehend and acknowledge. Surprisingly, Bentley becomes the glue that fixes Marc and Lily's relationship...the voice of reason. He recognises that Marc and Lily's mutual attraction is something special and worth fighting for. Something he's previously had and lost himself...Mai. Something irreplaceable.

I love the dynamics between the three of them once the lines are drawn and everyone knows their rightful place within their team. It takes time but the trust they share in each other is what will keeps them safe, although, like in Africa, all the best laid plans tend to go awry.

Out Of Plans is everything the author says it is and so much more-
If this NOVEL were a MOVIEit would have an R rating from the MPAA. Contains: Violence, Grisly Images, Strong Language, Nudity, and Graphic Sexual Content.
The dialogue is smart, snarky and hilarious, the plot suspenseful, intense and fast paced keeping me captivated by the action the whole time. Fabulous!

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.  Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Her Best Shot

With college graduation looming, three childhood friends vow to make spring break their last blast of pure fun. But at least one of them didn’t count on such incredible heat…

Layla Sharpe is definitely more math ninja than bikini babe, and her future has been calculated with razor precision. Convinced to let loose over spring break, Layla is finally ready to party—until her car breaks down halfway to her destination, leaving her stranded in Georgia with a mouthwateringly hot pool shark. She knows more than enough about angles to learn the game, but this week she wants him to appreciate her curves…

Phin Marks has never met a girl like Layla. She’s more Star Wars geek than seductress, and when he offers her a place to stay while her car is in the shop, he’s counting on the attraction between them to set the nights ablaze, no strings attached. But every moment he spends with Layla makes it harder to let her go. Can he persuade her to gamble in the most dangerous way possible…on forever?

Her Perfect Game

Spring break is supposed to be a week of fun in the sun for three childhood friends about to graduate from college. But one of them is ready to get her game on somewhere else…

Charlie Castle is an expert archer and a fierce warrior—in her favorite video game, anyway. But college life was a program she couldn’t quite master. To land a cybertech job without a degree, she’s entering a “hackfest” over spring break—where she also hopes to meet the sweet gamer who’s been flirting with her online. Instead, she runs into the hot guy who walked away years ago, and can’t fight the desire that comes rushing back.

Jonah Best has never gotten over Charlie, whose kisses were always as deliciously creative as her coding. But now that they’re face to face again, he doesn’t know how to admit that her online admirer is really him—or how to convince her that he’s offering her a job for her incredible skills, not her sex appeal. Can Jonah cut through their communication glitches and persuade Charlie that the next level up for them should be forever?

Her Winning Formula

Spring break was supposed to be a last blast of fun for three friends before the reality of adulthood set in. But for the trio’s science whiz, it’s an education in instant attraction…

Chemistry major Felicity Stone can tell you everything about the way chemicals interact, but when it comes to social interaction, she needs schooling. Abandoned by her friends, Felicity is faced with spending spring break alone—unless she accepts a gorgeous stranger’s invitation to pose as his girlfriend at a family wedding. Not one to turn down a research opportunity, Felicity never expected it to produce such breathtaking results…

Teacher and baseball coach Lucas Tanner is fascinated by Felicity’s potent mix of spirit and scientist, not to mention her delicious curves. When Felicity asks him to return the favor by teaching her how to pick up guys, he can’t refuse—but he’s not at all happy with the idea of her using a formula for flirting on anyone but him. Can he convince her that together they have the perfect chemistry?

Her Perfect Game Excerpt
They sat side by side as friends during the lecture. They laughed at the same jokes and listened to the criticisms of current games. Jonah listened to know what players wanted so he could improve their gaming experience. He didn’t know why Charlie wanted in on this panel. Was this where she wanted to take her career?
As they wrapped up questions from the floor, Charlie nudged him. “I’m going to head out to grab some food before the next session. See you later?”
Although he wanted to hear the remaining answers, he found himself asking, “Can I join you?”
“Sure.”
When they were back in the main hall, he reached for her hand to fight against the crowd. She didn’t shy away from his touch, so even when the throng of people passed, he continued to hold on, running his thumb along her knuckles.
“Are you flirting with me?”
He stopped and yanked her over near the wall. Doing so made her body collide with his. “Of course I’m flirting with you. I want to kiss you again.”
She tilted her head up. “What’s stopping you, Best?
He lowered himself a little. “Why do you call me that?”
Her eyebrows furrowed. “It’s your name?”
“My name is Jonah, but the only time you ever called me Jonah was in the bedroom.”
She snorted. “It’s a little presumptuous for you to think I should call you Best in the bedroom.”
As much as he wanted a real answer, he couldn’t stop the laugh. He loved her snarky humor, and although he’d heard it while playing Resskaar, nothing beat it in person.
When his laugh slowed, she leaned in and flicked her tongue on his earlobe. “I call you Best because you taught me a lot. Out here, with the games and the computers and the code, you are the best.” Her breath whispered across his skin, making his pulse quicken. “But in the bedroom, it was just you and me. Everything else stripped away.”
Damn, that was a good reason. Her pale blue eyes shone with honesty.
“How hungry are you?” His voice was strangled and it was her turn to laugh.
“Are you offering something better?”
“When’s the next session you want to see?”
“A little over an hour.”
“Let’s go to my room.”
Her smile broadened. “Mine’s closer.”
He yanked her again, plowing through the crowds and lines, shooting straight for the elevator. When the elevator doors closed, they were crammed in with about eight other people. Charlie pressed against his body.
He looked down to the V on her chest. “How far down does the paint go?”
She ground her hips against his. “You’ll have to explore if you want to know.”
Several pairs of eyes looked their way, as if other riders had hoped Jonah would peel away her clothes. Instead, he ran a finger across her waist where her vest met her pants. A simple strip of flesh, smooth against the pad of his finger. “I’m thinking not this far.”
She bumped her hips again, and the bell dinged for her floor. They quietly excused themselves to get through the people and out the door. Their walk to her room was slower than the walk to the elevator had been mostly because Charlie walked backward in front of him, kissing his neck and tripping both of them as they made their way down the hall.
Charlie slid her key card in the slot and they tumbled through the door. The curtains were drawn, and only a sliver of light eked through at the edges. Charlie pulled him deeper into the room. She backed away, and he heard the popping sound of snaps being unfastened.
“Wait,” he said and slid his hand along the wall searching for a light switch. With a quick flick, the bedside lamp glowed, and he saw that Charlie had her vest open.

Dance with me?”
Her eyes glimmer. The most captivating smile spreads across her face. Taking her beer out of her hand, I set it down on the table next to me. I gently pull her into my arms. Her body presses firmly to mine. Her hands twine around my neck. God, she feels so good. It’s as if she was made to be here in my arms. We sway slowly. Clapton’s deep velvety voice is speaking the truth. She does look wonderful.
You surprise me at every turn, Mr. Diamond.” Her breath is so close to my ear. I’ve never danced with a woman before. I have no clue what the hell I’m even doing. All I know is she spears my thoughts. I can’t stop thinking about her. I could easily become addicted to this euphoria as much as I’m already addicted to her well-being. I’m in way over my damned head. I know so much about her, yet I feel like there is so much more to learn. I’m turning into one of those fuck-puppets. She has me dangling on a damn string and doesn’t even fucking know it. Alina has the upper hand here without knowing much about me. I chastise myself mentally to move slowly, to learn about her more intimately. Not in a sexual way. She needs to know she can trust me. I wonder what’s going through her mind right now. My mind is screaming at me to find out things about her I don’t know, while my dick is trying to fight its way out of my pants. Yeah, well forget it, buddy. She will definitely be worth the wait.
That’s the plan.” My voice is gruff.
She squeals slightly when I dip her back, her long naked neck exposed. It’s my tongue this time that wants to reach out and run up her graceful neck. Lick her lazily, seductively. I rein him in. Keep my mouth shut. I bring her back up, spinning her slowly then bringing her back into me. I need to tie my dick up with my tongue, this way they’ll both shut the hell up.
Are you a romantic?”
Our mouths are not even an inch apart.
“I’ve never had anyone to romance before.”
I’m speaking the truth. My hand instinctively reaches up and caresses her cheek.
You are astoundingly beautiful in every way a woman should be.”
The music keeps playing. It switched to a different song. I’m so caught up in her I couldn’t tell you the name of the song if my life depended on it. It’s slow and sensual, exactly the same way we are swaying back and forth. There’s no lead and follow between us. We’re two people attracted to each other.
We’ve stopped moving. My hand is still stroking her cheek. Her eyes dart to my lips. My plan was to go slow with her. To not even kiss hertonight before I took her home. To let her know I respect her in every way.  But I can’t seem to help myself. My face leans in slowly, knowing I only get one first kiss with this woman. I could devour her with my mouth, clue her in and let her know specifically what she does to me. Instead, when my lips brush across her soft lips, a spark ignites in me. I’ve often wondered if the truth stands behind what happens when two electric currents collide. I feel it. The heat is slowly building up, then vaporizing in an extremely hot explosion.
Darting my tongue out, I slowly glide it across her bottom lip. She exhales, opening wider, clinging her mouth to mine. My plan was to control this kiss, but she takes complete control, which shocks the shit out of me. I’ll let her for now. She shows no sign at all of her sweet innocence, her lack of experience. Those tantalizing plump lips feel better than I ever thought they would. She’s kissing me like she’s never been kissed before. Bringing my other hand up to hold her in place, I tilt her head to the perfect angle. Her tongue darts out first, slowly meshing with mine. I lose all control then, devouring her mouth with mine. Our tongues play war with one another, each one trying to demolish the other. Fuck me all the way back to Michigan. I am so totally screwed. Totally fucked.
