Lance Parker is an arrogant know-it-all. As author of the bestselling book Your Soulmate Doesn’t Exist, he says love is for losers. Madam Love is a fortune teller and matchmaker who has brought hundreds of couples together.
When the two clash during a radio interview, she admits even someone as irritating and impossible as Lance has a soulmate. He says she’s delirious and a fraud. Then the gauntlet is laid down: Madam Love has two weeks to prove Lance wrong and find him a soulmate.
When Lance meets wonderful Emma by chance, he doesn’t know what to think anymore. But Emma has a secret. She’s Madam Love, actually. And it's going to take a whole lot more than a crystal ball to get her out of this mess.
A breath of fresh air!
I loved the humour of this romantic comedy with its equally fun cover. The author is new to me, so I had no preconceived ideas on what to expect...this comedic farce is an unexpected laugh out loud surprise as we follow Lance and Emma (Madam Love) on their path to a happy ever after.
Author Lance Parker feels it is necessary to call and express his negative views during a radio show phone-in...part of their interview with Madam Love. She's talking about her work...helping people find their soul mates. He's the author of the best selling book 'Your Soulmate Doesn't Exist'. After he insults the work of the lovely Madam Love he's persuaded against his better judgement to allow her to help him find his soul mate. The result? An outcome neither could have predicted.
When fate steps in and overrules any attempt to alter the intended course of action, Emma tries to steer Lance away, only she continually struggles to avoid him, the more she bumps into him. All coincidences, but, would he believe her?
Trying to contain the inevitable when fate steps in. Mr Amooi writes a hilarious fast-paced narrative as Madam Love tries her best to stop her own predictions from coming true. With each new 'coincidence', more scheming and lies are told to prevent the truth been revealed. Unexpected desires begin to surface but will the truth provoke damaging and upsetting consequences? It's crazy, fun and uplifting...pure escapism.
The delightful protagonists are supported by equally quirky secondary characters and lots of cupcakes which enhance the already crazy shenanigans. If you're looking for a quick entertaining novel this Summer, Madam Love comes with a wonderful feel-good vibe.
