New Release Spotlight & Review: Blind Landing by Carrie Aarons

Fear stops dreams in their tracks before they even have a chance. Then again, so do injuries.
Natalia Grekov was born to win Olympic gold. As the USA’s top gymnast, she’s calm, confident and ready to make her country proud in just two short months. And her elite athlete lifestyle includes no time for distractions—especially men. When a disastrous fall in practice puts her dreams at risk, it seems the only person who can help her is the one person she wants nothing from.
Spencer Russell is gymnastics’ bad boy. A cocky, laid-back charmer with abs of steel and a witty mouth, he waltzes around the U.S. Gymnastics Training Camp like he owns the place—even though he doesn't anymore. After an injury sidelined his career and any chance at Olympic glory, he’s now just a coach, helping other gymnasts reach their goals. Serious is not a word in Spencer’s vocabulary. But when Natalia tumbles into his life, he's suddenly sincerely interested in helping the blonde beauty in any way he can.
Can they vault over the obstacles standing in their way? Or will Spencer be the distraction that causes Natalia's chance at gold to crash and burn?

With the 2016 Summer Olympics imminent, I loved my this romance based in the world of Gymnastics – a favourite sport I love to watch!

Born to Polish immigrant parents living in California, Natalia Grekov's young life has been devoted to gymnastics and now she's only a handful of months away from realising her dream; to win a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She's in South Jersey attending a training camp with other elite gymnasts, all vying for a coveted place in Team USA. Whilst in training, a poor landing after a dismount from the beam results in an injury that threats to ruin her dream.

Spencer Russell has women falling at his feet with his good looks, charm, and incredible body, honed to perfection during the hours of training to become a world-class gymnast. Unfortunately, his Olympics dreams were shattered when an injury forced him to retire from the sport that's his life. Four years later, he's a trainer and working with male gymnasts as they prepare for their Olympic dream, only it is one of the female competitors that catches his eye.

The nemesis is Novak Filipek, a Polish trainer with questionable techniques, although that's rumours...right? His regime is not for the faint-hearted as he bullies the weak athletes and openly despises those popular and well-respected by their peers.

"Some gymnasts have the ability to feel the fear and do it anyway. I wouldn't know. I've never been afraid of anything in the sport.
Until now."
I liked Spencer and Natalia together. They are very much alike in attitude when it comes to their competitive natures, but it's during their illicit training sessions when an empathic Spencer is helping Natalia to overcome her fear, I feel the connection between them. At other times, it is the gymnastics that takes priority rather than their relationship, but that's okay because the plot more than kept me entertained as I turned the pages.

This my first Carrie Aaron's novel and I definitely want to read more in this series. The secondary characters we're introduced to are fun and likeable so I'm more than happy to read their stories too.

New Release Spotlight: Your Forever Love by Layla Hagen

Eric Callahan is a powerful man, and his sharp business sense has earned him the nickname Shark. Yet under the strict façade is a man who loves his daughter and would do anything for her. When he and his daughter move to San Francisco for three months, he has one thing in mind: expanding his business on the West Coast. As a widower, Eric is not looking for love. He focuses on his company, and his daughter.
Until he meets Pippa Bennett. She captivates him from the moment he sets eyes on her, and what starts as unintentional flirting soon spirals into something neither of them can control.

Pippa Bennett knows she should stay away from Eric Callahan. After going through a rough divorce, she doesn’t trust men anymore. But there’s something about Eric that just draws her in. He has a body made for sin, and a sense of humor that matches hers. Not to mention that seeing how adorable he is with his daughter melts Pippa’s walls one by one.
The chemistry between them is undeniable, but it’s the connection that grows deeper every day that has both of them wonder if love might be within their reach.
When it’s time for Eric and his daughter to head back home, will he give up on the woman who has captured his heart or will he do everything in his power to remain by her side?
I help him unpack the food and gesture for him to sit in the chair on the opposite side of my desk.
As we both sit, he says, “You look gorgeous today, Pippa. You’ll forgive me if I slide one or two inappropriate looks your way during lunch. Completely unintentional, of course.” He says this with a straight face, and my cheeks and ears heat up. He’s in the mood for flirting openly today, and for some reason, I’m looking forward to whatever lunch might bring. This will be fun.
You’re welcome to try,” I say. “But I warn you, the result might be more than you can handle.”
God, he’s beautiful. I allow my gaze to roam freely over his luscious lips and broad shoulders. My senses go into overdrive as I imagine the well-built muscles underneath his shirt, every ridge and every line. That’s when I realize he’s watching me while I’m watching him. He raises a brow, letting out a whistle.
You’re undressing me with your eyes, and we’re not even halfway through lunch.” His voice reverberates in a lower octave than before. It sounds unbelievably sexy.
It’s the testosterone you’re oozing. It clouds my mind, does unspeakable things to my senses.” The second the words are out of my mouth, I nearly choke on them. Did I really say that out loud? I’m on a slippery slope. I can feel it in my bones… and other places.
His hand freezes in the motion of cutting a slice of the duck.
A girl must always land on her feet. If I pass this as a voluntary comment, it’ll be less embarrassing.
You’re not the only one who can use honesty as a weapon,” I inform him.
Clearly.”
Why did you say you’re damaged goods at the wedding?”
Losing someone you love leaves a mark.” Judging by his clipped tone, he doesn’t want me to insist on this topic. I will drop it, but I want to make a point before.
That doesn’t make you damaged goods. I wouldn’t call you that.”
What would you call me?”
Alice nailed it,” I answer, deciding to lighten the mood. “I can’t think of a better description than tall, dark, and handsome.”
I see. Are you flirting? ‘Cause last week, you admonished me for giving you hot looks.”
I think I am, although I haven’t flirted in a long time, so I can’t be sure. Can I test this out some more on you? Maybe I can get my game back.”
You want to exercise your flirting muscles on me and plan to actually flirt with another man?” Eric sets his jaw, his gaze igniting me. “‘Cause then we’re having a problem.”
Did you just go alpha on me?” I ask, fascinated.
Do you like it?”
Yeah.” I giggle, completely embarrassed.

I fell in love with books when I was nine years old, and my love affair with stories continues even now, many years later. I write romantic stories and can’t wait to share them with the world. And I drink coffee. Lots of it
