Wow!
The prologue makes you sit up and take notice. I dived in blind and
boy was I surprised in a positive way!
The day Madelyn Stone has been waiting for has finally arrived. She's gotten a second chance; a job and home. A foundation to re-build her life. Her short lived happiness, shattered as she's verbally attacked from someone linked to her past. Lawyer Holton Andrews steps in to help although she dislikes his threatening way of dealing with the situation. However, they form a tentative friendship revealing a shared tragic past and a physical attraction they can't ignore.
Former Marine turned lawyer, Holton Andrews would rather been working through his current cases than acting as a taxi driver; a favour for the senior partner at the law firm he works. His presumptive ideas about the person he's collecting are blown away when he comes face to face with a petite young woman. He becomes curious to know more about her and his protective nature takes over when he finds out she's in danger...an event that will change his life.
I loved this suspenseful second chance romance with its original plot-line which kept me riveted and turning pages. Madelyn is a wonderful heroine; determined, if slightly shy spurred on my anecdotal words of wisdom spoken by her late grandmother. Holt, driven by memory that haunts him which has closed off his heart to love. Yet his subconscious sufficiently to want to protect the beautiful woman.
This is my first book by this author and I'm impressed by her writing style. The protagonists are multi-faceted with equally plot enhancing secondary characters. The story line is sexy, heart-breaking, action packed and heart warming. With a heavy dollop of hope too, what more can a reader ask for?

M.E.
Montgomery has been an avid reader her entire life, and after falling
in love with so many characters created by other authors, a new one
began to form in her head. With the support of her family, she
decided to to write it.
She
is the homework queen to her four school aged children who think she
is a genius in math, science, history and spelling. Fortunately, her
biology and elementary school teaching background help her to keep up
the expert façade, at least for now.
Although
born and raised in the Washington DC metro area, she has considered
many places to be called home since she left to attend college in
North Carolina. She is a proud Navy wife, setting up a home wherever
the Navy sends her husband. When she’s not reading or writing, she
loves to go camping with her family, drink wine on the deck, and be
swept off to romantic getaways.
