New Release Spotlight and Excerpt: Fierce Grace by Jess B. Moore

Fierce Grace by Jess B. Moore

Annabelle Dare is in a good place. She landed a sweet job, teaching at the quaint Fox River Elementary School. She has everything she needs: teaching music and sharing an apartment with her best friend. A simple life, she’s convinced, is all she needs.
Asher Grace knows who he is and what he has to offer. Nothing. A poor boy from the wrong side of town, steel worker, with too much weight on his shoulders as he is trying to hold his family together. Best choice is avoiding too-sweet-for-her-own-good Annabelle at all costs.
Annabelle falls in love with the way she comes to life with Asher. He awakens a hunger for life and love in her that she didn’t know she possessed.
Asher must learn his worth beyond his upbringing and his past. Annabelle must learn to stoke the fire of life as it burns within her and learn how close she can get before the flames lick her.

Annabelle is the first person to tell you she’s perfectly happy alone. She has her best friend, her wonderful job, and her rocking burnt orange retro sofa – this is all she needs! Ah, but it never works out that way, does it? Annabelle has crushed on Asher for a while, but he never seemed to notice her. Then Asher pursues Annabelle, and she has to admit that maybe she’s been missing out … this scene takes place after A & A have fallen asleep together on the sofa while watching a movie.

You can’t get burned if you keep your distance from the flames.

Enter Asher Grace.

He stirred in me sensations I didn’t know I could possess. Just lying there with him, I came to life. More in tune with myself and my desires. They might have been latent up until then, but I was overjoyed they existed. Flames licked inside me, building with each touch shared with Asher. I had been afraid all this time of other people, but the fire came from within. When I got hurt at the end of this, it would be my own fault.

After Asher woke up and we went back to being upright, Kendra exited with suspiciously good timing, and offered to bring Asher back home.

Come on, lover boy. I’m your ride home.”

“Thanks, Kendra.” Asher half smiled, but looked back at me, reluctant to go.

“I’ll wait outside.” Kendra scoured the area for her keys and ID. “I’ll be back later,
Annabelle.”

“Okay, Doll Face.” I watched my best friend walk out the door, giving us a chance
to say goodbye.

“Have a good week, sweetheart.” Asher framed my face with his hands, and
looked me in the eye.

“You too.” I sighed, so sure of him, based on practically nothing, and knowing full
well I was being swept away by my emotions.

He pulled me in and up, until his lips found mine. In that kiss he claimed me. Not
holding back, he left me with a kiss I could never forget.

Asher’s arms wrapped me up tight in a lingering hug. I gripped him and loved his
strong arms around me. He left with a reminder for me to lock my door. I would never get over him, a certainty that rocketed through my system. It was already too late for me, and I couldn’t go back to living on the sidelines of life and love after exposure to Asher Grace.
