New Book Release With A Review: Captured By Her Enemy Knight by Nicole Locke

Captured by Her Enemy Knight by Nicole Locke

Falling for the man

Cressida Howe, the Archer, is a well-tuned weapon. But she’s also a woman captivated by a man—Eldric of Hawskmoor, the warrior knight her father ordered her to kill. Instead, for years, Cressida has simply watched him… Now she’s been captured by her formidable enemy, and her well-ordered world comes crashing down, for Eldric is even more compelling up close. Cressida curses her traitorous heart—this assassin has fallen for her target!

Cressida Howe had spent much time over the years observing Eldric of Hawksmoor. She'd even danced with him at Swaffham, not that he would know, due to her darkening her light blonde hair. So when she's captured by him, it reveals her true identity... she is The Archer and he is the man she desires.

Under orders from King Edward to find The Archer, Eldric's tasked to bring the wanted man to London. So, when he captures the one who murdered his friends, he's shocked to find out his prisoner is a woman, dressed like a man... only she seems familiar…the same one who holds his heart?

Set in 1297, the protagonists are well-matched, both strong-willed and loyal to their causes… until they both realise they've met before. However, each has a responsibility which conflicts with their attraction to each other. So, when it becomes clear, Cressida's father, Richard Howe has taken the young daughter of Eldric's acquaintances, the two have a common cause to rescue the child, although trust is a hard-fought battle between them.

I liked Cressida's bravado but the scenes with her father showed a disturbing vulnerability in her character. Eldric is a giant of a man but isn't afraid to show his compassionate side.

The romance is woven around an engrossing plot, full of intrigue which comes to a satisfying ending. Captured By Her Enemy, definitely caught my attention because I've not read many historical novels set in Medieval England and France. The author is new to me too, so I'll be looking out for more Nicole Locke books to add to my TBR list.

Nicole first discovered romance novels hidden in her grandmother's closet. Convinced hidden books must be better, Nicole greedily read them. It was only natural she should start writing them (but now not so secretly).

If she isn't working on the next book in her historical series, she can be reached at NicoleLocke.com!
