New Release Spotlight: Effortless by Bethany Kris
Camilla Donati doesn’t do relationships—it’s just not her thing. She wants a fun time, not a long time. She might be exactly what Tommaso Rossi needs to make his vacation from the responsibilities as a Capo, a break worth taking.
He didn’t expect to find a woman like her with a mind full of filth.
She didn’t expect a man who would shatter all of her rules with only a grin.
Chicago keeps calling Tommaso home, and further out of reach from the one thing he wants more than ever. Camilla’s restless heart keeps getting in the way even when it’s stuck between what is, and what could be.
This should have been easy.
It didn’t have to be messy.
Falling in love is effortless.
It’s people who make it hard.
Effortless: A Legacy Novel is a standalone contemporary erotic romance.
By the time Camilla got back inside the house, and found Zeke waiting with her safe glass of wine, she caught sight of her brother coming through the front door.
Cross, and someone else.
She only figured the guy had come with her brother because Cross chatted with him as the two navigated the people together.
Camilla didn’t have a clue who he was, but the guy was gorgeous.
Tall. Lean. Blue-eyed. Dark-haired. Strong features. Sharp lines.
Physically, he wasn’t anything to scoff at. She didn’t care how bold it seemed of her to look him over while she had the chance. If the guy didn’t want to be looked at like he was something she wouldn’t mind taking a bite out of, he shouldn’t look that fucking good walking across a goddamn floor.
Who was he?
Long fingers like he played an instrument, maybe. Or maybe like his fingers were built to play something a little more sinful. Built like he could run a ten-k without losing a breath. A half-smile that spoke of an easy nature, but could probably melt panties when he turned it on a woman.
There was nothing boyish about him.
Not a damn thing.
Dressed in black slacks, black silk shirt, and black leather shoes, he looked damn good. The guy walked with a confidence she knew was probably learned. Yet, his disinterested gaze swept over the faces of the people like he didn’t give a shit who they were.
He looked like all kinds of trouble.
And a whole lot of fun.
A little cocky. A touch of arrogance. Nothing innocent about him.
Exactly Camilla’s type.
The fact the guy was Cross’s friend didn’t bother Camilla at all. That didn’t make him off-limits to her. As long as it didn’t interfere with his business, her brother didn’t give a shit. Not to mention, he never told her who she could or couldn’t sleep with, date, or otherwise.
Cross was good like that.
“Who is that?” she asked Zeke while she still had the time. Soon, her brother and his friend would be too close to ask. “With Cross, I mean.”
“Oh, that’s Tom. He’s spending some time in the city, I guess.”
“Tom?”
“Tommaso Rossi—Chicago.”
Oh.
Oh.
Camilla caught Tommaso’s gaze with her own the closer he came. His straight eyebrow cocked high as his gaze drifted over her face. He then looked over the silver, bodycon dress she had slipped on earlier.
He was a lot like her, it seemed.
Bold.
Unashamed.
Down his gaze went to her bare legs, and the Valentino rockstud black and silver heels she wore. Then his striking gray-blue gaze jumped back up to meet hers once more.
Camilla grinned, and took a sip of her wine. Her night just got way better.

James “Mac” Maccari’s career in the mafia is at a standstill. As the best solider in his Capo’s crew, all he wants is to be noticed enough to get Made in the Pivetti Crime Family. But instead, his Capo’s interests seem more focused on keeping his solider hidden from the boss, and every other Made man he can. Seemingly stuck right where he is with no chance of going up, Mac doesn’t know what will finally get him the attention he needs to earn his button.
Until she shows up and all eyes are on them …
Melina Morgan survives—that’s just what she does. She’s never been able to depend on anyone but herself to keep her safe and get things done. When a chance encounter puts her in a bad situation with the cops and the mafia, Melina has no choice but to put her faith in the hands of a man that not only infuriates her with his cocky arrogance, but catches her interest, too. Playing pretend in a fake relationship with Mac doesn’t seem all that terrible, until pretend turns real and bullets start to fly.
A man is nothing without his woman …
When the attention on Mac and Melina turns from bad to worse, and someone in the Pivetti Crime Family decides the couple needs to go, they know they’re fighting an uphill battle alone. But making it to the end alive means Mac could get what he’s always wanted, and Melina might find what she didn’t even know she needed.
Together, they’ll make waves the mafia has no choice but to notice …
“I’m not always cold, thank you.”
“No, you’re certainly not. I had you pretty hot earlier, didn’t I?”
Melina’s cheeks tinted with a light pink. “Hey, now—”
“Keep your bark, Melina.”
“Mac!”
“Save the bite for later,” he finished with a wink.
Melina huffed, crossed her arms, and glared at him from the passenger seat. “Does this really seem like the right time for you to go on with your usual cockiness? Do I look like I’m in the mood for any of that?”
“You look like you need a break,” Mac answered honestly.
And she did.
Melina’s eyes were tired, her usual fight was dulled. She wasn’t sitting as straight as she usually would in her seat, and a wariness emanated from me.
“So,” he continued, drawling out his words, “… forgive me if I’m trying to make you relax a little bit, doll.”
“Relax, huh?”
“Yes. It seems as though we’re going to be spending a lot of time together in the near future, and not all of it will be fun. Relax. Get comfortable. Right now we’re safe. Chill the fuck out and don’t sweat the rest.”
“Easy for you to say,” Melina muttered. “No one wants to kill you.”
“You do realize that my public statements of being with you puts me on the same platform as you, right?” Mac asked quietly. “Calling you mine, vouching for you, and bringing you into the folds like I did makes me responsible for you, Melina. If Luca decides to pull the trigger on you, then I will quickly follow.”
Melina quieted in her seat. “Oh.”
“Yeah, oh.”
“I didn’t know it was like that.”
“The mob sees a man for what he is underneath his charming smile and nice clothes. A human, one with a word and blood. If his word can’t be trusted, then his blood can spill. You have my word, Melina. Please let me keep the blood from spilling, too.”
“Okay,” she whispered.
“That all you got?”
Melina sighed. “No, but I’m too tired and confused to come up with something better. I think relaxing sounds pretty damn good right now.”
“I agree. How big is your bathtub?”
“Excuse me?”
“Your bathtub. How big is it?”
“Big enough,” she replied.
“For two?”
Melina glanced away, but Mac had seen the hint of her smile before she did. “I guess we’ll find out.”
“I guess we will, doll.”

by Bethany-Kris!
A Legacy Novel
She was once his liar.
He was once her savior.
Cross Donati fills his days with the mafia, family, and responsibility. The wild boy is a distant memory. A waiting prince now sits in his place. An old debt puts the gunrunner right back into the path of his past, but he only sees his future.
Every king needs a queen.
Catherine Marcello learned how to stand on her own, and she no longer needs saving. The sly girl is far more dangerous now. A broken promise taught her how to live again. One conversation puts the hustler face to face with her first love, but she only sees heartache.
Every God needs a prayer.
The scars of their history runs deep. Every lie told, and each secret spilled hurts a little bit more.
Love does not care.
Love will not wait.
So, why does life keep standing in the way?

Revere is A Legacy Novel. While it can be read as a follow up to Always, it can also be read as a standalone novel.
♕ALWAYS♕, A Legacy Novel (Cross + Catherine, #1)
“Hello?”
“Catherine.”
She turned to stone on the spot, unsure she had heard the caller’s voice correctly. Except she knew that she did because his voice was unmistakable. She could never quite forget the way he sounded murmuring into her ear.
“Cross,” Catherine said. “How did you get my number?”
“You’ve never changed it, babe.”
She wet her lips, and tried to ignore how damn good he sounded. Like crushed velvet and liquid gold. Silky, hot, and expensive. A cost she didn’t know if she could afford.
A cost like her heart.
“You just remembered it?” Catherine forced herself to ask.
How she kept the lingering emotion out of her tone, she didn’t know.
“I remember a lot of things,” Cross replied.
“Why are you calling me?”
“You didn’t answer my question at the restaurant yesterday.”
“What question was that?”
“I wanted you to go out with me this weekend,” he said like it was nothing at all.
“You didn’t actually ask that, Cross. You simply said it.”
“Don’t you remember what I told you years ago?”
“You said a lot of things,” Catherine muttered.
Broke her damn heart with his words, too.
“I told you that where you and I were concerned, I would tell you what I wanted, and you would either agree or not. That’s all there is to it. No games. That still stands, Catty. I’m telling you what I want.”
She let out a slow, long stream of air. She despised how a part of her was absolutely ready to agree, and meet up with Cross. If nothing else than to catch up, and see if things still felt the same when he was close. Problem was, she knew it would feel the same. How could it not, when this was the only man she had ever loved?
Catherine wasn’t ready to let something silly like old feelings and dusty memories rip her heart out again. She was not falling, crashing, and burning with Cross Donati one more time.
“Catty?” he asked.
“You know, you’re the only person I don’t mind calling me Catty.”
“I started that nickname.”
“No one knows why.”
She swore she could feel Cross’s smirk in his words when he murmured, “No one needs to.”
