Catching the Cowgirl

Cotton Creek series

California video game designer Adam Clark knows that, in his business, authenticity is the key. So, for their newest Western adventure game, he and his partners decide to try out Cowboy Camp. Only Adam’s friends never arrive, leaving him a bit—okay, a lot—preoccupied, trying to resist the gorgeous cowgirl who owns the ranch.
Single mom Skye Hawkins is too busy trying to keep her family’s dude ranch out of the red to even think about romance. But she’s having trouble avoiding Adam. He’s smart, he’s sweet, he’s funny…and he’s hot! Maybe it’s the mountain air, but she finds herself letting down her guard. And the fireworks are definitely worth it.
The only problem—they live in totally different worlds. Still, Adam is nothing if not resourceful. Sure, he wants to catch the cowgirl. But more importantly, he needs to find a way to keep her.

This ledge is crazy. I’ve died ten times trying to make this jump. I can’t make it across the river,” she said, passing him her controller. “Can you just get me past this part so I can move on?”
Normally he wouldn’t even consider it. It would take away from the game play and the integrity of the puzzle. But nothing about this was normal. And he was quickly realizing that he would do just about anything for Skye Hawkins—wear cowboy boots, muck out disgusting horse stalls, even attempt to country dance. Whatever she wanted.
He took the controller and easily maneuvered her character over the ledge and into the river.
Oh no, be careful.” She tapped his leg anxiously. “This is the part where my character usually drowns.”
I got this,” he assured her with a laugh. But her enthusiasm was so contagious, he played up the drama for her benefit. “I don’t remember this being so tough, though. I might not make it after all.”
But he knew he would. He’d designed this part and replayed every feature of it a hundred times. But he couldn’t resist the way she clutched his arm and hopped up and down in her seat with anxiousness.
Watch out for the crocodile,” she shouted, pointing at the screen. “You’re almost there.”
He worked to manipulate the character so it swam past the crocodile and crawled out on the other bank, almost losing his concentration when she buried her head against his shoulder, laughing as she claimed she couldn’t watch.
When she saw that he’d made it across the river to the other side, she let out a sigh of relief. “You did it.” She gave him a hug. “Thank you for sharing this with me.”
Adam caught his breath as her cheek pressed to his.
As if it had a mind of its own, his hand slid around her waist, pulling her to him as he hugged her back.
She drew back, but just slightly—just enough for him to see her face and take in her wide-eyed look of surprise.
His gaze dipped to her mouth—to her slightly parted rose-colored lips—and she inhaled a quick sharp pull of breath.
Not him. He couldn’t breathe at all, couldn’t move.
He was frozen in place, even though every synapse in his body was firing on all cylinders sending sparks of heat surging through his veins.

He looked back up, into her eyes, searching for a sign, anything that would tell him she was feeling the same thing, the same swirling sense of dizziness that had his own stomach in knots and his mouth going dry. Anything that would give him a glimpse of permission.
But she seemed to be frozen as well, suspended in the moment, as if she were waiting, afraid to move.
He leaned in—just a fraction of an inch—but close enough that his mouth was a whisper away from hers. She didn’t pull back, and he moved the smallest bit closer and brushed her lips softly with his.
She sucked in a soft gasp, the tiniest sound but full of gigantic meaning. A sound that was a cross between pleasure and pain. It pierced his heart.
He stopped, not pressing, but not pulling away, as he felt the slight tremble of her lips against his. He waited, his heart pounding hard against his chest, somehow knowing that this moment could change everything.

His eyes widened, and he swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing in his throat. Frozen in place, he only stared at her as he labored to breathe.
Are you okay? Do you need your inhaler?”
Yes. No. Wait.” He pulled in a deep breath. “I’m okay. It’s just that I’ve thought about this so many times. Dreamed of what it would be like. But I never imagined it would be like this. You’re a goddess. You literally take my breath away.”
Oh. My. Gosh.
Her heart ached at the pure honesty of his words.
He shook his head, letting out an embarrassed sigh. “Sorry. That’s pretty nerdy, huh? It’s gotta be so sexy to take your top off and have a guy have an asthma attack just from looking at you.”
If you only knew.
She sat up, pressing him back against the sofa as she straddled his lap. Pushing his hair off his forehead, she gazed into his eyes, trying to match his sincerity. “You just told me that seeing me half naked literally took your breath away. That’s actually sexy as hell.”
A grin tugged at the corner of his lips. A grin so cute that she couldn’t help but smile back.
Jack Bannister. You are like no man that I have ever known. I’m sitting topless in your lap, and instead of mauling me, we’re grinning like loons.”
His smile widened. “I know. It’s ridiculous. I want to maul you. Well, I mean I want to everything you. It’s not like I’m normally a real suave guy or anything. But holy hell, when I’m around you, I feel like a gawky teenage boy again that’s never kissed a girl and is completely transfixed by an amazing pair of breasts.” His gaze flicked down to her chest and color brightened his cheeks. “I don’t even know what to do with my hands.”
She cocked an eyebrow at him. “Amazing, huh?”
He nodded. “Spectacular.”
His words made her bold, the way he looked at her bringing out her brazen side. “How about this—how about if you stop worrying about what you’re not doing and let’s focus on what we could be doing.” She pushed off his lap and shimmied out of her pajama bottoms.
Reveling in the sharp pull of his breath, she stood before him, wearing only a tiny pair of white lace thong panties. Even though she worked out consistently, no amount of skating could shave off the extra curve of her hips. But tonight she didn’t care.
He’d just told her that he thought she had the body of a goddess. Leaning forward, she took his hand and pulled him up to stand in front of her. “And don’t worry, I have plenty of ideas for what you can do with your hands.”

Cotton Creek Series

Chicago City Girl Tackles Colorado Mountains with Sexy, Reclusive Guide
Avery Oliver can see the byline now. What better way to jumpstart her journalism career than to head out into the woods with a sexy guide? It’s all very Bear Grylls, but she’ll take it, even if it means ditching her beloved designer suits and handbags.
All Sullivan Reed needs in life is a fly rod and the roar of a river. Playing guide to a hot little reporter can’t end well…until they strike a deal that’s mutually beneficial. She’ll pretend to be his girlfriend to deflect an overly flirtatious neighbor, and he’ll help her with the article. It’s a win-win.
Until it isn’t. By the time a storm strands them in his cabin, Sully’s done pretending. He wants Avery—badly—but she’s a big-city girl looking for adventure, not his simple life. So why does releasing her feel like he’s lost the perfect catch?

Link to Follow Tour:HERE
The distraction of her gorgeous legs almost did him in. Literally.
Sullivan Reed hit the brakes just in time to avoid a collision in front of the general store.
The curvy blonde in the red jacket didn’t even notice, her focus intent, trying to wrench her purse from the passenger seat of her car—a little foreign number with rental tags.
She was wearing some kind of short pants, not quite shorts but not really a skirt. Must be the new fashion—not that he paid attention to fashion. According to his ex, he never noticed anything.
But he noticed this woman—noticed her long legs, her too-high heels, and what the hell was up with that purse? It was practically the size of Wyoming. What could she possibly be carrying in there? He could pack for a three day trip in a grocery sack.
Not that he cared. He didn’t have time to be thinking about how high her heels were or the enormity of her handbag when he had other things to worry about. Bigger fish to fry. So to speak.
He needed to get in, grab his supplies, and get back to the shop. He’d stayed up late last night tying some new flies and wanted to get the new stock put up this afternoon so he could be out on the creek by dusk.
Early summer in the Colorado mountains was like paradise to a fly-fisherman. Plus he needed the time spent fishing tonight to mentally prepare himself for the visitor who was supposed to arrive tomorrow.
Besides, with that long blond hair and tall curvy figure, the woman in the red jacket was totally out of his league.
Not that he had a league, or even wanted to be in a league. He wasn’t even particularly interested in the game right now. He just wanted to be left alone.
Present company excluded. He reached across the seat and patted the neck of his golden retriever, Sadie.
Sadie was the only female in his life now, the only female he trusted, and that was fine with him. She hadn’t left him, didn’t yell at him to make more money, never nagged him to pick up his wet towels off the bathroom floor, and she hardly ever snored. All attributes that he valued.
The dog whined, sitting upright in the seat of his old truck, her gaze intent on the blond woman.
She stood on the sidewalk, oblivious to him and the fact he’d almost run her down, her large round sunglasses perched low on her nose as she looked over them to read the parking meter.
Sully watched her dig into her cavernous bag for change. He was no lip reader, but he was fairly certain she dropped a pretty clear F-bomb before pulling her hands out and throwing them up in disgust, apparently giving up on the effort.
He stepped out of his truck, his gaze captivated by the way her hips swayed and the swish of the breezy fabric of her shorts against her legs as she hurried into Miller’s Mercantile. He slammed the door and stepped up to the curb, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his shorts and jingling his loose change.
After dropping a quarter into his own meter, he paused in front of hers.
It would serve her right to get a ticket. “Just because this town is small doesn’t mean you can just ignore the law,” he grumbled, half to himself, half to the dog who watched him intently, and then he dropped a quarter into her meter.
Pausing, he thought about the size of her purse—she was probably pretty high maintenance and would be in there for a while.
He dropped in a second quarter.

HIDING WITH THE HEARTBREAKER by USA Today bestseller Virginia Nelson
Rule: Protect the innocent.
Making people laugh for a living is easy, but when a beautiful stranger needs Aloysius Sutton’s help, he has to find a way to become Jude’s hero.

He would swear he didn’t think about kissing her before he did it. One second, he reveled in the way the light glinted off her eyes, the next he took her lips with his own. He might have been able to pull back, too, if she hadn’t released this delicious little moan from the back of her throat. The sound drove him to slant his lips over hers fully, sampling and teasing at her mouth with all the repressed attraction he’d bottled up since he’d met her. Her fingers dug into his scalp, altering the angle in a way which deepened their kiss. He gripped the fence on either side of her to resist pulling her closer, but he didn’t have to since she melded herself against his body.

Couldn’t help himself. The pull was too strong.
He moved closer, dipped his head, his lips barely brushing hers. She inhaled the softest gasp, her breath catching in the middle, and it was the sexiest sound he’d ever heard.
He didn’t think, didn’t rationalize what a dumb idea this was.
His heart and his need were speaking louder than his head as he leaned down and kissed her.

HER UNWANTED HERO by Veronica Forand
Rule: A real man always helps someone in need... he may be the only one who does.
A disenchanted police officer must choose between keeping a woman’s affection or keeping her alive.

I’m at the pathetically-in-love stage.”
Wow. That’s very in love.” She tempered her smile. “Have you ever thought about what you’d sacrifice for her?”
He laughed. “What kind of answer are you expecting? That I’d climb the highest mountain, swim the biggest sea?”
Think back … John’s rules.”
The one warning us against dating your best friend’s sister?”
She rolled her eyes as though a teenager again. “Not quite. The one about how a real man always helps someone in need, especially when they can’t help themselves. You’re a man now, right?”
He threw up his hands. Rules were easier to say than live by. “I tried to help her. She doesn’t want it.”
I guess then the question is what you’re willing to sacrifice in order to keep her safe?”

ONCE A HEARTBREAKER by T.J. Kline
Rule: A real man never lies, especially to a woman.
Ty Preston ran out on the woman he loved twelve years ago, but now he's back to prove he's a changed man. However, Rayne can't risk getting her heart broken by the cowboy again.

Her heart took a nose-dive into her stomach as goosebumps broke out over her arms again. She wanted to pull her hand away from his but couldn’t seem to get her body to cooperate with her mind. Ty lifted his hand to her face, brushing back a piece of hair that had fallen from her practical ponytail, letting his thumb trail over the edge of her jaw.
Damn this man and the way her body still responded to him.
You don't even know if I’m actually any good.” What was supposed to be a protest came out as a feathery whisper of sound, husky and far more sexy sounding than she meant for it to.
I know exactly how good you are, Rayne.”

HOMETOWN HEARTBREAKER by Heather Long
Rule: A real man always puts his best foot forward…
Zeke always planned to steal her heart, but she left him on base. It’s the bottom of the ninth, and Charity is up to bat. Can she tell her two-all stars the truth or will a foul end her best chance?

He traced the line of her lips as she took several deep gulps of air. “If you keep touching me that way,” her breath tickled his fingertips. “It’ll be hard to think about anything.”
Not sure whether you want me to stop or want me to kiss you.” Really shouldn’t have gone there. They weren’t ready for that.
He wasn’t.
She opened those sweet brown eyes, the pupils so large he imagined he could drown in them. Wanted to dive in and never leave. They weren’t there. Hell, he’d barely had her back in his life for twenty-four hours, and all he wanted to do was turn everything upside down.
A real man always puts his best foot forward. He knows when it’s time to act. When to take the step he’s been waiting to take…listen to your gut, Zeke. Listen. It knows, even when your heart and your mind are at war.
His mind said think it through. His heart wanted to jump. His gut needed a plan.
How can you still look at me like that?”
What a stupid question. “Because I still love you.”

One more thing if you’re up for it,” Savannah pulled on the hem of her shirt.
